Kylea shares her week
Week 5: Draft Climate Change Bill and Parliamentary Sittings
This week, I had the opportunity to review the Government's draft Climate Change Bill and provide feedback on behalf of our community to Minister Chris Bowen.
Climate action is one of North Sydney's top priorities, and I am pleased that the Government has prioritised development of this legislation. At the same time, I realise the draft bill does not yet reflect the level of ambition that many in our community want to see.
As your Federal representative, I am advocating for amendments to the draft legislation that will improve transparency and accountability, and enable emissions reduction targets to be regularly increased in line with science-based principles.
I will be in Canberra for parliamentary sittings over the next two weeks, and look forward to continuing to work with Minister Bowen and our colleagues to further develop the bill.
It has now been five weeks since I was officially declared the Federal Member for North Sydney and I'm pleased to announce some recent appointments to my team.
Emma Bull has come on board as my Chief of Staff, bringing with her a wealth of experience in public policy and advocacy. And TeamTINK volunteers Claudia Stephens, Carly Brown and Carolyn Adams have stepped up as electorate officers, to answer local residents' questions and ensure they are getting the support they need.
As I've previously promised, we are going to be a community-based electoral office, so we're going to need everyone to continue to lean in. I look forward to hearing from you and perhaps seeing you at one of our community events or volunteering opportunities in the near future.

North Sydney's Reducing Vehicle Pollution Bill will bring Australian fuel quality in line with European standards, reducing the levels of sulphur and aromatics that they can contain.
Week 22: The National Anti-Corruption Commission Bill Passes the House
With just one sitting week remaining for Parliament in 2022, the past week in Canberra has definitely been full of robust debate, constructive discussion and ultimately some landmark legislative developments.
Week 21: What we're doing to strengthen the Anti-Corruption Bill
Our democracy will only ever be as strong as our willingness as citizens to actively contribute to any debate, and just on six months into this role, the capacity for me to truly listen to the many voices of North Sydney as they discuss proposed or needed legislative reform at the national level is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I get to do on a daily basis.
