Kylea shares her week
Week 22: The National Anti-Corruption Commission Bill Passes the House
With just one sitting week remaining for Parliament in 2022, the past week in Canberra has definitely been full of robust debate, constructive discussion and ultimately some landmark legislative developments.
During the week our voice, and importantly our ambitions, were heard loud and clear in areas as diverse as integrity in politics, faster action on climate, the more humane treatment of people seeking asylum in Australia and ultimately greater accountability in way in which our government allocates our public money.
Through this work, North Sydney has played such an active role in in shaping current government policy for the better and I am proud to have been able to speak for us all.
Rather than trying to capture it all here in words however I encourage you to visit our YouTube channel and hear for yourself what our community’s voice sounds like when it is holding both the government and individual members to account.
I would also like to highlight that today marks the International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women, with this year's campaign called UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women and Girls.
It's our time to come together and stand in solidarity with feminist movements around the world to resist the rollback on women’s rights and call for a world free from violence against women and girls.
You can can learn more about how you can take a stand here.
Wishing you a good weekend.

Week 21: What we're doing to strengthen the Anti-Corruption Bill
Our democracy will only ever be as strong as our willingness as citizens to actively contribute to any debate, and just on six months into this role, the capacity for me to truly listen to the many voices of North Sydney as they discuss proposed or needed legislative reform at the national level is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I get to do on a daily basis.
