Kylea shares her week
Week 23: Ministers once again dancing around economic facts to defend their love of coal
This week, I've been shaking my head watching our PM and his ministers scramble to tear down Mike Cannon-Brookes’ bid to buy and decarbonise AGL. For so long, the Morrison Government has argued that “Can Do Capitalism” would be Australia’s way out of the climate crisis. But now that a viable private sector solution has arrived, we see ministers once again dancing around economic facts to defend their love of coal.
While our PM and his party are busy looking back in the rear view mirror at coal power, in North Sydney we can clearly see the amazing view through the windscreen.
This week, I announced to the media our plan to turn North Sydney into a renewable city. I have been working with business and community leaders, and key players within local government, to push for an immediate suspension of the tunnels projects. And I plan to continue working with councils and State Government to turn North Sydney into one of the first net zero urban zones in Australia, as we transition to a fully electrified community.
Thank you again for your support this week, particularly at our Campaign Launch on Sunday. It has been so invigorating to meet and hear from you, and I look forward to more great conversations in the week ahead. I’ll be in Willoughby on Sunday, North Sydney on Wednesday, and hosting breakfast for International Women’s Day early Wednesday morning. Please join us if you can.
North Sydney, the winds are changing. Let’s be the change we want to see because together, we’ll change the climate in Canberra.

Earlier this year, in the months before the election, I promised to develop and introduce a Private Member's Bill that would deliver better, cleaner fuel to Australians and reduce pollution from our cars. That Bill was tabled in Parliament this week.
North Sydney's Reducing Vehicle Pollution Bill will bring Australian fuel quality in line with European standards, reducing the levels of sulphur and aromatics that they can contain.

Week 21: What we're doing to strengthen the Anti-Corruption Bill
November 18, 2022
Our democracy will only ever be as strong as our willingness as citizens to actively contribute to any debate, and just on six months into this role, the capacity for me to truly listen to the many voices of North Sydney as they discuss proposed or needed legislative reform at the national level is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I get to do on a daily basis.

Week 18: What the Budget Means for North Sydney
October 28, 2022
This week, my team and I have been hard at work determining what the newly released Federal Budget means for North Sydney's priorities, and what needs to be done to ensure government initiatives actually deliver the changes that our community wants to see.
