Kylea shares her week
Week 20: Small individual gestures spark important community discussions
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 2:08 PM
Whether it was Grace Tame’s refusal to smile in the presence of the Prime Minister, or Dylan Alcott declaring “he loves his disability”, ordinary people like you and I have made statements that call our system to account. These actions are in stark contrast to the lack of bold and strong leadership from our Federal Government.
Week 19: Highlighting serious human rights issues
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 2:06 PM
I’ve had several conversations recently in our community about the latest Human Rights Watch Annual World Report. The report highlights “serious human rights issues” that tarnish Australia’s global standing, including our climate policy and treatment of asylum seekers and refugees.
Week 18: Trying to understand how the pandemic will shape 2022
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 2:02 PM
The start of any new school year has always brought with it both excitement and anxiety. But the stakes feel much higher than usual this year as families across our community try to understand how the pandemic will shape 2022 for them.
Week 17: COVID case numbers in NSW exceeding 90,000
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 1:58 PM
With the most recent COVID case numbers in NSW exceeding 90,000, I suspect many in our community are caring in some way for someone who is sick, whether as a friend, family member, or a healthcare professional.
Week 13: My last blog post of 2021
Posted by Tasma Hunt · March 22, 2022 1:56 PM
It’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the end of the year – this is my last blog post of 2021. We’re now just over three months into our campaign to get a strong, independent voice for North Sydney to Canberra, and as the year comes to a close, I’d just like to share how grateful I am to have met so many amazing people on this journey.
Week 12: Thank you for standing
Posted by Tasma Hunt · March 22, 2022 1:54 PM
Congratulations to those who ran as Independents in the Council Elections last weekend. While the results in some areas are being finalised, it’s important we let those that ran on our behalf know how grateful we are to them for continuing to advocate for a true community voice in local politics. Thank you for standing.
Week 11: Profiling some of the fantastic small businesses across our electorate
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 1:52 PM
#TeamTink is profiling some of the fantastic small businesses across our electorate on our website and social media channels in the coming weeks.
We are doing this as a free community service following my open invitation to participate two weeks ago. From Gladesville to Castlecrag, Kirribilli to Lane Cove, and all the vibrant and diverse areas in between, we will meet clever, passionate people who have dedicated so much of themselves to building businesses in our community.
Week 10: What on earth is going on?
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 1:47 PM
Women are grossly underrepresented in the top ranks of politics, business, sport, the arts, media, academia, the trades … While women don’t necessarily seek the same paths as men, we deserve access to the same opportunities and outcomes. To exclude women from the decision-making table is a shocking waste of investment and talent in this country.
Week 9: Our community achieves incredible things by pulling together
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 1:46 PM
The North Sydney electorate is a vibrant and diverse community of thinkers, feelers, doers and changemakers. Time and again I’ve seen people across our community achieve incredible things by pulling together, looking beyond immediate self-interest and seeing the bigger picture at play.
Week 8: What does it mean to be Australian?
Posted by Kylea Tink · March 22, 2022 1:43 PM
What does it mean to be Australian? What is it that drives some to stand up and fight to protect something greater than themselves? What should I take out of that commitment as personal motivation and how can I ensure I am honouring those who have sacrificed so much?
