Week 81: The era of representative democracy
|
Kylea with members of the Chatswood Croquet Club. |
The past few weeks have been particularly busy for my electoral office team who are hosting several big events in the coming weeks. You may have noticed us madly distributing invitations to celebrate International Women's Day (6 March); Harmony Day (23 March); Clean Up Australia Day (3 March) and more. And you may have wondered why we've been trying so hard to get people to come to these events in person. The truth is, as your Independent MP, these events aren't just celebrations; they are important opportunities for me to talk to people and truly listen to your views. The numbers show that our community wants faster action on climate; integrity in federal politics; a future-focused economy; and equality and respect for all. But I want to know more. I want to know your talents, your struggles, and your big ideas so that I can truly take your voice back to Canberra. This is what representative democracy looks like and we need as many people as possible to actively participate in order to deliver the best outcomes for all. Talk to me. DM me. Come say hello. I want to hear from you! It's been a pleasure meeting and connecting with many of you this week in the Electorate Office, at the Willoughby Council citizenship ceremony, Chatswood Croquet Club (apologies to Rose for our low score!) and out in the community. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Here's to working together towards the change we want to see! |
