Kylea shares her week

Week 3: It’s as if we have all been making it up that we haven’t yet seen a firm commitment to net zero, but then there is news of new coal mines being approved

Does anyone else feel like Friday seems to be coming around really quickly these days? Not that I am complaining as so many great things are happening!

For me this past week included some fantastic opportunities to meet members of the #TeamTink crew out and about. Every time I see that pink Tink t-shirt in the real world I can’t help but feel a part of something so much bigger than just me. Thank you for continuing to work so hard to start a conversation in our community about how we want to be represented in Canberra.

One of the most amazing things about running as an Independent is the freedom it offers me to listen to all opinions, without a party filter, so please keep sharing your thoughts with me.

There’s also been media, the Cuppa K-Tea (this week I chatted with Nicki Hutley), a Zoom Community Town Hall and great conversations with people who know so much more than I do on the issues that matter to us like: faster action on climate, equality for all (including gender equality) and the potential of a Federal Integrity Commission.

I am learning something new in every conversation and finding out about the things we would be doing differently if we were living in a forward facing economy. Thank you to everyone for being so generous with your knowledge and please reach out if you feel you have expertise that our electorate would benefit from understanding.

In the larger picture of the world, my head is spinning with the number of statements and turns we have seen our federal government make in the last two weeks relating to the delivery of a reliable national climate policy.

One minute it’s as if we have all been making it up that we haven’t yet seen a firm commitment to net zero any time soon, but then there is news of new coal mines being approved and members of parliament calling on the taxpayers to foot the bill for fossil fuel projects that even the banks won’t loner fund. If you missed me seeking your opinion on this, please check out yesterday's Walk the Talk on IGTV (Instagram TV) - and my media statement here.

As we roll into week 4, I am looking forward to seeing many more of you again this weekend. Please keep your information and support coming – we are working really hard to try and get back to you as quickly as we can.

Let’s change the climate in Canberra. KT

week 23: Cutting vehicle emissions with our new Private Members Bill

December 02, 2022

Earlier this year, in the months before the election, I promised to develop and introduce a Private Member's Bill that would deliver better, cleaner fuel to Australians and reduce pollution from our cars. That Bill was tabled in Parliament this week.

North Sydney's Reducing Vehicle Pollution Bill will bring Australian fuel quality in line with European standards, reducing the levels of sulphur and aromatics that they can contain.

Week 21: What we're doing to strengthen the Anti-Corruption Bill

November 18, 2022

Our democracy will only ever be as strong as our willingness as citizens to actively contribute to any debate, and just on six months into this role, the capacity for me to truly listen to the many voices of North Sydney as they discuss proposed or needed legislative reform at the national level is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I get to do on a daily basis.
