Kylea shares her week

Week 32: Support for the arts and an event bonanza

North Sydney is home to many wonderful cultural organisations and artists - including groups like the Lane Cove Theatre Company, Ensemble Theatre, and Willoughby Symphony, who have entertained and inspired us with their performances over the years. Arts and culture is central to our national identity, and greatly improves the quality of our everyday lives. But the sector has suffered greatly from persistent funding cuts and the impact of COVID.

Many in our community believe that Australia's arts sector needs more targeted, generous support - including for the SBS and ABC - and if elected, I will push for that change. Especially after the difficulties of the past two years, we need to rebuild the sector and support and develop local talent, as part of a culturally rich, forward-focused economy that we will all be proud of.

With only three weeks until Election Day, TeamTINK is now racing to reach all voters in our electorate and convince them to "Vote 1 Kylea Tink". This is it, North Sydney. This is our last best chance to turn our seat Independent, so we can move forward on integrity, equality and climate action in the critical years ahead.

You'll be hearing more from our TeamTINK volunteer coordinators in the coming days. I strongly urge you to join at least one of our campaign-critical volunteer activities. With your support, I know we can - and will - change the climate in Canberra.

week 23: Cutting vehicle emissions with our new Private Members Bill

Earlier this year, in the months before the election, I promised to develop and introduce a Private Member's Bill that would deliver better, cleaner fuel to Australians and reduce pollution from our cars. That Bill was tabled in Parliament this week.

North Sydney's Reducing Vehicle Pollution Bill will bring Australian fuel quality in line with European standards, reducing the levels of sulphur and aromatics that they can contain.

Week 21: What we're doing to strengthen the Anti-Corruption Bill

Our democracy will only ever be as strong as our willingness as citizens to actively contribute to any debate, and just on six months into this role, the capacity for me to truly listen to the many voices of North Sydney as they discuss proposed or needed legislative reform at the national level is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I get to do on a daily basis.
