May 4 2022: Moving forward with the uluru statement
The Uluru Statement from the Heart is a call from Indigenous Australians around the country, expressing the need for the persisting legacies of injustice to come to an end. On May 3rd 2022, Kylea Tink was joined by Thomas Mayor to discuss the Uluru Statement. Thomas is an author who currently serves as the National Indigenous Officer of the Maritime Union of Australia. Thomas was a signatory of the historic Uluru Statement from the Heart, with which he was entrusted to carry around Australia for eighteen months, garnering support from across the country. Kylea and Thomas discuss what the Uluru Statement calls for, why it matters, what it means in our current political context, and how we can act to support its success.
