Feb 10 2022: Community Conversations with Kylea Tink - Speaking up for Australia's asylum seekers
Date: Thursday, 10 February 2022
Details: Australia's immigration policy has come under scrutiny again, after tennis superstar Novak Djokovic's five-night stay in mandatory detention. The case elevated uncomfortable conversations about how we are treating asylum seekers who remain indefinitely detained in hotels, detention centres and other locations in Australia and offshore.
So how do we, as a community, feel about Australia's immigration policy? Is North Sydney satisfied with current federal legislation or do we believe it should be changed?
Join Kylea Tink and special guests Madeline Gleeson, Abul Rizvi and Shukufa Tahiri to discuss Australia's treatment of asylum seekers and how North Sydney can advocate for the change we want to see.
