ABC Afternoon Briefing, 15 November 2024
While she has long advocated for reform to improve transparency, accountability and truth in politics, Kylea warns that the Government's newly proposed electoral reforms appear to be a cynical attempt by the two major parties to lock smaller players out of Parliament House. "If [Special Minister of State Don Farrell] is sincere in wanting to move this reform forward for Australians, then introduce it in a way that enables Australians to engage with the passing of that legislation. By all means bring it into the house in the next two weeks, but do not ram it through Parliament. Give this legislation the time it needs to be scrutinised."
