Housing Bill Inquiry Submission: Materials & Suggestions

The Private Members Bill Senator Pocock and introduced to parliament has now been referred to an Economics Legislation Committee Inquiry. This process enables others from across our community to have their say on this important piece of legislation as, as it currently stands, the government is resisting legislating it. Given this, if you would like to offer your expertise or opinion in this area, I would encourage you to make a submission.

Submission Topic Suggestions

  • How our housing system is failing to deliver for millions of Australians and is therefore in need of a fundamental re-set
  • The importance of elevating adequate housing as a fundamental human right
  • The need for legislation to lock in a continuing Commonwealth responsibility for national leadership on improving housing system performance
  • The importance of accountability and consumer voice mechanisms within the legislation
  • The practical impact of the bill in effectively mandating the Commonwealth to produce a strengthened NHHP during the next Parliament.
